Standard equipment dimensions and cargo payload are applied automatically. Actual equipment may vary.

Checks the cargo currently entered against the selected transport category. Smallest fitting space first; not a cost comparison.

Import packing list

Choose a CSV or Excel (.xlsx) file. First sheet only. Required columns: name, length, width, height, weight, quantity. Optional: po, stacking, rotate, stop.

Dimensions and weights use the units selected above unless each row includes length_unit and weight_unit. Import replaces the current cargo list and vehicle plans.

Outer dimensions, including packaging. Add a separate entry for each pallet with a different PO or name.

Saved cargo templates

Saved on this browser. PO names are left blank when reused.

Advanced · clearances & floor load

Footprint-average check only; pallet feet and point loads need separate review.

Cargo breakdown

Securing recommendations

Suggested review zones only. Strap quantity, rating and placement require a qualified loading team’s assessment. Stacking requires suitable pallet strength and load stability.

Fit estimate based on dimensions, payload and your stacking settings. Not a certified loading or securing plan. Basic upright door-fit checks apply where door sizes are available. Turning space and forklift clearance are not checked. Axle and floor-load estimates apply only where supported; securing recommendations require review.

    A BETTER START, EVERY SHIPMENT

Simple enough for a quick check.
Useful enough for your next load.

    01   Measure the outside

Use packaged cargo dimensions and actual internal vehicle measurements. Equipment dimensions and payload limits are applied from the selected preset.

    02   Check your constraints

Set weight, quantity and single or double stacking. Upright cargo may rotate on its base, but will never be tipped on its side.

    03   Explore the result

Rotate the plan and review unloaded pieces. Export placements as a CSV to share or review with your loading team.

How to plan a container or truck load

Loadwise is a free browser-based cargo loading calculator for freight forwarders, shippers and warehouse teams. Choose a container or US truck preset, add packaged cargo dimensions, weight and quantity, and generate a 3D loading plan. No account is required.

    1. Choose equipment and units. Use 20 ft or 40 ft containers, 40 ft high cubes, 48 ft or 53 ft trailers and flatbeds, box trucks or a cargo van. Length and weight units can be selected independently.
    2. Add cargo and constraints. Enter pallets, crates or cartons individually, or import a CSV or Excel (.xlsx) packing list. Include the pallet and packaging in measurements; choose single or double stacking.
    3. Review what fits. Rotate the model, inspect cargo names, check unloaded quantities, and review the loading sequence. Save your shipment locally, print to PDF or export placements to CSV.

Results depend on the selected equipment presets and cargo constraints. Confirm actual interior and door dimensions, permitted payload, floor support and securing requirements with the carrier. Axle estimates use assumed geometry and empty weights; they are not a compliance certification.

    Loading planner questions

Is this container and truck load planner free?

Yes. The current Loadwise planner is free to use in your browser without registration. You can calculate a 3D plan, import cargo, save a shipment file, print a plan and export placements.

How many pallets fit in a 53 ft trailer?

There is no single count that applies to every shipment. Capacity depends on packaged pallet footprints, orientation, height, stacking, clearance, payload and delivery sequence. Enter your actual pallet details and choose the 53 ft trailer preset to calculate a layout; verify it against the assigned trailer.

Can I import an Excel packing list?

Yes. Import a CSV, TSV or Excel .xlsx file. Use the template in the import panel; required fields are name, length, width, height, weight and quantity. The importer reads the first worksheet’s values and lets you review the cargo before adding it.

Can I mix centimetres with pounds or inches with kilograms?

Yes. Select length units (mm, cm or inches) and weight units (kg, pounds or metric tonnes) separately. Loadwise calculates CBM in cubic metres regardless of the selected input units.

Does a loading plan guarantee axle compliance or safe securing?

No. The plan estimates cargo fit under its configured rules. The semitrailer axle model uses assumed empty weights and geometry. Confirm actual axle and gross weights on scales, and have the carrier and qualified loading team review handling, floor support and securing.

Where are my cargo lists and saved shipments stored?

Calculations and packing-list processing run in your browser. Drafts and cargo templates use this browser’s local storage; shipment files are downloaded when you save them. They do not automatically sync across devices. See the privacy notice for hosting and font requests.

    Updated October 18, 2026

Loadwise calculates loading plans in your browser. Cargo dimensions, weights, PO names and imported packing lists are processed on your device; the planner does not upload them to a Loadwise server.

    Saved drafts and templates

Your latest shipment draft and cargo templates are stored in this browser’s local storage. They remain until replaced or removed, or until you clear this website’s browser data. Other people using the same browser profile may be able to see them. Clearing browser data removes locally saved drafts and templates; downloaded shipment files must be deleted separately. Private browsing or blocked storage may prevent saving.

    Downloads and sharing

Saved shipment files, CSV exports and printed reports can contain cargo and PO details. They are saved or printed only when you choose those actions. Share them only with people you intend to receive them.
